About Me

I grew up in Upstate New York to Brazilian parents, speaking Portuguese at home and English at school. For almost my entire life, I've gone through phases of obsession with a particular topic. Until around age 7 or so, I liked all types of vehicles, beginning with trucks and trains, and then airplanes, and finally cars. During most of elementary school I switched to being interested in birds, and wished to be an ornithologist. By middle school, math became my passion, all the way through the end of high school. At MIT I distanced myself to some extent from math due to some issues I saw in the department. Now, much of my free time is spent climbing, growing and learning about mushrooms, and caving.
